About Sophie Sherwood

Sophie Sherwood (they/them), is a visual artist and workshop facilitator based in Bristol, UK. Their work explores the self and nature through light sensitive materials and alternative analogue darkroom techniques.

They graduated with an MA in Photography at UWE, Bristol in 2019. They received a BA in Photography from Plymouth University in 2012. They run a community darkroom in the heart of Bristol, as part of Bristol Folkhouse adult education charity. They’re also also a part of the Sustainable Darkroom and have recently been appointed as a project manager for London Alternative Photography Collective.

They have exhibited nationally with organisations such as The Photographer’s Gallery, and Brighton Fringe; internationally with organisation including EXP festival in Barcelona; and online with Analog Forever, and Small File Photo Festival.

Organisations they have worked with include the National Trust, Alzheimer’s Society, Bristol Photo Festival, and One25.
